Wayne Bryan

WAYNE BRYAN (Director of Once Upon A Mattress) has been Producing Artistic Director for Music Theatre of Wichita since 1988.  Raised in southern California, Wayne began his professional career as an actor and a director at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre while stationed as a Navy Officer in Coronado.  He has performed on Broadway in Good News!, Rodgers and Hart, and Tintypes, and on television in M*A*S*H (CBS), American History (PBS) and Keystone (A&E).  Awards: 1999 Brotherhood Sisterhood Award from NCCJ; 2002 Recipient of Governor's Arts Award (Kansas); Joseph Jefferson Award (Chicago) as director; Atlas Award (San Diego) as actor, and the Dean Goodman Choice Award (San Francisco) for outstanding direction of Once Upon a Mattress.  Wayne has served on arts panels for the NEA and the Kansas Arts Commission.  He is the co-author of the new version of Good News!, which has been seen around the world.
